Fredericksburg has become a true wine destination in its own right. The town was settled by German immigrants, and that heritage still shows in its stone buildings, its Marktplatz and the Vereins Kirche. Historic Main Street is lined with shops, restaurants and wine tasting rooms, so you can spend a day exploring on foot. On Saturdays, the 290 Wine Shuttle runs hop-on, hop-off service between downtown and the wineries along Highway 290, and local tour companies offer half-day, full-day and private wine tours.
